Happening #1
It’s 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1st. Bedtime in the Wiens house for all children – whoo hoo. (don't let the period fool you, this is a very exciting time of day for me)
Jacob and Maddie are in pajamas, teeth brushed and ready to go to sleep. They like to share a bed and this night they are sleeping in Jacob’s bed. Below is the dialogue that took place.
Maddie - “Mom, he is sleeping on my side”
Jacob – “Maddie, shhh!!”
Maddie - “I want that side!”
Jacob (slyly looking at me) – “Maddie – stop!”
Me – “Jacob, what is going on?”
Jacob – “Nothing!”
Me – “Jacob, tell me what is going on”
Jacob (lifts up his pillow to reveal a note)
Me – “What’s this?”
Note reads –
“Dear Tooth Fairy,
I swallowed my tooth”
Me – “Jacob, you didn’t lose a tooth”
Jacob – “I know”
Me – “Why did you write this note?!?”
Jacob – “I want to see what the Tooth Fairy will do!”
Genius Plan.
Me – “Well, you can do that, but the Tooth Fairy will know you didn’t really lose a tooth and swallow it”.
Jacob – “Well, I just want to know”
I tuck the kids in to bed and go to my room. Ten minutes later, the kids come rushing into my room.
Jacob – “Mom! I made Maddie a fake tooth and put it under her pillow!”
Maddie – “Ya! We are going to see what the Tooth Fairy does!”
Me – “Oh my.”
Happening #2
Yesterday, as I was going through Jacob’s schoolwork he had brought home, something caught my eye. He had received a grade on his Math test of a 9/10. The curious Mom I am, I looked through to see what problem he had missed. Well, on the second page, I found the “error”.
In 2nd grade the children learn math through graphs (remember those?). Well, this particular graph had some names of children (like Sue, Mary, Rick, etc.) and showed how long they danced for; i.e. Sue danced for 2 hours, Mary danced for 1 hour, etc. The question asked what two people danced the longest. Then it had a multiple choice for answers you could choose; i.e. a. Mary and Sue, b. Rick and Sue, etc.
Well, apparently Jacob took it upon himself to write in his name in the graph and put that he danced the longest time. He then added an E to the multiple choice answers and wrote in “Jacob and Mary” and circled E as his answer.
Yes, you are most likely snickering at this point. What goes on in this little boys head… I have no idea! If you ask me, he is too smart for his own good! He is a little prankster... I have heard stories of my Dad being a prankster when he was young... we'll blame him.
